Cries of London, set of stipple etchings by Edward Jackson Stodart, c1926

The Cries of London. Set of 15 signed stipple engravings by Edward Jackson Stodart after Francis Wheatley. Printed in colours on vellum from hand coloured plates, a technique also known as 'A la poupée', by the Museum Galleries, London, about 1926, each with it's original identification label. All signed in pencil lower right by Jackson Stodart. FAULTS - at some time these have become damp, causing cockling of the vellum, not an unsual problem with this printing medium. Also old sticky tape marks from mounting, mostly in the margins outside the plate marks. One print is shown in my image - Songs, I can send photos of all the prints on request. These are very scarce indeed and were extremely expensive when new. Size of each 34 x 41 cms to plate mark, sheet size 37 x 48 cms. Ref I0204
